« I went in to replace my permanent retainer. I had no gap between my front teeth before the appointment, but I left with a visible gap. I returned a week later after being told the retainer would be redone. Upon arrival, the dentist changed her position and told me it would take 3–6 months for the gums to heal and the gap to close. I contacted three other local dentists, and none of them agreed with this explanation. She refused to take accountability, despite previously saying she would redo the procedure to eliminate the gap that appeared after my visit. During the appointment, she also accidentally hit the roof of my mouth with a tool, causing a cut. When I mentioned this later, she denied it and claimed she was only cleaning plaque behind my teeth—even though the injury was on the top of my mouth, not behind the teeth. As a result, I now have to go to another dentist and pay additional money to fix a mistake that she acknowledged and initially said she would correct. I grew up with a tooth gap, and the entire reason I had braces and a permanent retainer was to close it. Being told to simply “accept” a gap that did not exist before this appointment is extremely disappointing. »
